2023: Thorbjorn Olesen

The middle leg of the DP World Tour's Asian Swing in 2023 went the way of Denmark's Thorbjørn Olesen, as the 33 year old cantered to a final score of 24 under to come home four shots clear of the field. This win marked the seventh DP World Tour success of Olesen's career and his first since bagging the Betfred British Masters at The Belfry the previous May. Whilst that victory was a closely run affair, in Thailand Olesen rarely looked threatened.

Olesen had already proven himself a tough man to peg back, having converted a 54-hole lead into a win on five previous occasions. It, therefore, looked ominous for the field that the 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links champion took a two-shot lead into the final round. The tournament then looked as good as over when Olesen blasted out of the traps with birdies at the first, second and sixth. Compatriot Nicolai Højgaard threatened to make a match of it when closing to within two, but Olesen rebuffed that challenge with rapid-fire birdies at 13, 14, and 15 to come home in cruise control.

In addition to bagging just shy of €320,000 in prize money, the 460 points gained took Olesen up to the heady heights of fifth place in the Race to Dubai Rankings. Germany's Yannik Paul finished strongly to take a solo second, with Alexander Knappe and Joost Luiten finishing in a share of third. In what was a good event for the Danish players, Oliver Hundebøll secured himself a brand new BMW iX xDrive 40 for his hole-in-one effort at the par three 13th.
